  • Leaders Take Note -- It's essential that every boy and adult leader in your unit be properly registered with the council. Don't put this important task off. Contact Ron Frederich rfrederi@bsamail.org if you need assistance.
  • North Trail District Calendar -- Many events for the coming school year are already on the North Trail District Calendar. If you are aware of district wide events which should be on the calendar, please let the webmaster@northtrail-data.org know so they can be posted. Also if you see errors, let us know so they can be corrected.
  • Twilight Camp -- Here are the achievements for the Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos.

  • Twilight Camp Pictures -- are now available. Thanks to Scott Thompson who took all the pictures.
  • Join Scouting Night -- Mark your calendars, Join Scouting night is Thursday September 10th. More information will be available as planning progresses.
  • North Trail in the News -- Pack 19 continues to fill its scrapbook with clippings of photos and articles about collecting Scouting for Food donations from George and Laura Bush and their Secret Service agents. Now, Boys' Life tells the story.

Cub Scouts:

  • Cubs "Start your Engines" -- Come on out to Flag Pole Hill on Saturday July 18 at 9:00 am and race your Cub Mobile. This will be a free event open to all cubs and their pack. Just build a car, bring your picnic lunch and come on out for some fun.
  • Webelos Camp -- All Cub Scouts graduating 3rd and 4th grade are invited to attend a fun filled 4 day/3 nights of camping at beautiful Camp James Ray located on Lake Texoma. Webelos will have an opportunity to work on requirements for 1st and 2nd year Webelos programs. Flyer with more information
  • Arrow of Light Ceremonies -- Order of the Arrow Yanush Chapter is offering recognition arrows for Arrow of the Light/Crossover Ceremonies for the Cub Scout Packs of North Trail District at $15.00 each to raise funds for the purchase of Native American regalia.   • Summer Fun Contest -- We are looking for YOUR Pack to make a display or story board depicting, "What our Pack does for Fun in the Summer." Winners will be recognized and displays featured at our August Program Kick-off / Roundtable Meeting.
  • Cub Scout Roundtable -- Thursday 9/10/09 Program:TBD. For all Cub Scout Leaders and Parents.

Boy Scouts:

  • National Youth Leadership Training 2009 -- NYLT is an intense, 5½ day, outdoor leadership training experience for youth troop leaders. The course goal is prepare young men to become superior leaders in their troop, their district and other organizations they belong to, now and in the future.
  • NAYLE -- Do you have Scouts who have competed NYLT and are looking for additional leadership training in an exciting environment? Well the National Advanced Youth Leadership experience at the Philmont Scout Ranch this summer is just the thing.

  • District Committee -- meeting, Tuesday 8/3/09 at 7:15pm.
  • NOAC 2009 Lodge Flap -- Help MIKI's contingent to NOAC 2009 with the purchase of the commemorative Council shoulder patch, OA Lodge flap or the full Lodge pocket set. All proceeds will be used to support the Lodge's contingent to NOAC in Bloomington, Indiana.
  • Advancement Policy Change -- Steve Heidt, Circle 10 Council's Advancement Chair has announced changes to the Advancement Policy. You must use the online advancement system to receive free rank advancement badges. Questions to: Jim T. Phillips 214-284-8684 ntadvance@sbcglobal.net.
  • Unit Commissioners -- meeting, TBD.
  • Training -- There have been some changes in the Training program. New Leader Essentials have been replaced with "This is Scouting" and is now being offered on line. Every parent should take this course along with Youth protection. Both of these can be taken by going to the national training site: http://olc.scouting.org . Fast start courses are also offered for each of the scout programs. Specific leader classroom and outdoor training will be offered in the fall and the dates will be posted soon.
  • Dallas Heritage Village -- offers Cub Scout workshops for all ranks, Boy Scout merit badge programs (American Heritage, Blacksmithing, Pottery and Textiles) and Eagle Scout Projects.
  • Climbing Instructor Class -- Tower class begins September 5, 2009 Rock class begins September 24, 2009
  • Flags Needing Retirement -- We been entrusted with a significant number of 20 x 30' flags that need to be retired. These can make for a very impressive ceremony! To make arrangements to pick up your flag, please contact Kip Lankenau at 972-243-0440 or kip@kipmotor.com.
  • Training -- opportunities; a list of training available for adults and scouts in North Trail can be found by clicking the "Training" button on the web site.
  • Good Turn For America -- National call for service.
  • Uniform Closet -- North Trail District has a "clothes closet" for "gently used and experienced" uniforms and other scouting materials. These items are available to scouts who need them.
  • Welcome Home a Hero Today -- Everyday, Soldiers return from overseas at DFW airport, help show your support and welcome these men and women home.
  • Arrow of Light Ceremonies -- Schedule Order of the Arrow members for ceremony in full regalia.
  • Email Newsletter -- Don't believe the myth that the newsletter is only for cubmasters and scoutmasters. The newsletter is intended for every adult in the district including parents. Don't miss out on an event because you heard about it too late. Sign up now.
