Philmont's Autumn Adventure |
| WHAT: |
Philmont Autumn Adventure Imagine if you would, a different kind of Philmont. A Philmont very much like the land as it existed when Waite Phillips, himself called this place home. Imagine yourself with 6+ others alone in the backcountry. No Scouts, No Staff, No Program except for your own personal one, and no timetable to be anywhere than where you want to be. A Philmont Ranger as your guide for the duration. The Elk are bugling, fighting, and mating, the Black Bears are awake 24/7 gorging for the upcoming hibernation, the Mule Deer have moved to the lower elevations, the minibears will already have gone underground, the weather will be cooler, and an opportunity to see Baldy possibly with a dusting of Snow. We customize our own itinerary/route, average is about 30-35 miles in 5 days. Days and Mileage can be modified. A backcountry basecamp for the duration with daily sidehikes is a real possibility. |
