The Basic Version gives a thorough understanding of the Boy Scouts of America’s Policy on how to protect youth from emotional, physical and sexual abuse; and how adults can protect themselves from false accusations of emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Offered online at olc.scouting.org.

The Venture Version specifically addresses the changes older teens go through as they mature, and how these changes affect the way they interact with each other and adults. Many of these older scouts are still active in Boy Scout Troops; therefore, the Venture Version of this course is recommended for Boy Scout Leaders/parents, not just Venture Leaders/parents. Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster: This is the first of a two part course. Topics covered include leadership styles, youth leadership development, patrol leaders' council, teaching Scouting skills, the Scoutmaster's conference, and growing the troop. Committee: This training course ensures you understand the roles and responsibilities of each troop committee member. It is a team-building experience ideal for the whole committee. This is the second part of Leader Specific Training-SM/Assistant SM. It is an adult leader course that uses the Patrol Method to teach the same outdoor skills taught to the Scouts as they progress from Tenderfoot to First Class. This course involves a weekend of camping with the Patrols established during the Leader Specific Training-SM/Assistant SM. These courses are strongly recommended for every youth in the Boy Scout Program. In fact, staffing positions are available and are great assets on any college resume.
This course is taught on the Troop level, usually within a week or so after Senior Patrol Leader and Patrol Leader elections. Organized by the Scoutmaster, this is where the newly elected Patrol Leader’s Council develops its goals and objectives for their term as the Troop’s Leaders. Check with your Scoutmaster for more specific information.
This is a district level course directed and taught by older Scouts for the purposes of modeling a boy-run campout and teaching camping skills. Click here for specific course information.
This course is an intense, 5˝ day, outdoor leadership training experience for troop youth leaders. Its principle function is to help Scoutmasters by training their top boy leaders in the skills of leadership. This course is a National BSA-developed course that closely parallels the material provided in the 21st Century Wood Badge training for adults. This course is offered by the Circle Ten Council. This course is the ultimate in Leadership Training. It is run by youth, hand-picked from across the country representing some of our future’s most outstanding leaders. The Den Chief is a critical member of the Scouting Leadership Team. Den Chief Training is intended to build enthusiasm for the job and teach the skills the Den Chief will need to be successful. This training combines fun and enjoyment with an excellent character building experience. Participants will learn leadership, organization, how to work with adults to solve problems, and, most importantly, how to encourage and work with Cub Scouts while being a role model. This course consists of two evening and and one weekend camping program designed to teach vital skills for high adventure bound leaders and seasoned scouts. It’s ideal for troops and crews planning and preparing a high adventure trek to Philmont or anywhere else. Click here for specific course information.
This serious program, with professional instructors, trains participants to respond to emergencies in remote settings. The 40-hour curriculum focuses on stabilization, treatment and evacuation guidelines of patients in backcountry environments. Adults and older seasoned Scouts.
