  • North Trail to Adventure -- Saturday 10/4/08. Cubs on Safari at Camp Wisdom. Schedule and online registration now available. Contact Kip Lankenau kip@kipmotor.com if you have questions.
  • Recruiting -- School has started and now is a great time to recruit new scouts into your units. The parents of these new scouts will have talents that can help you deliver a quality program. Make it a priority to participate in Join Scouting Night at your local school. Challenge the scouts and parents in your units to think about boys they know and recruit them.
  • Leaders -- Need help with your program? Tap into the resources right in your unit. Send your scout parents to training. Saturday morning 9/27/08.
  • Cub Leaders -- Are you a new cubmaster or den leader? Need some answers fast? Check out this training session on Saturday afternoon 9/27/08. Specific sessions for every position. Find out how to make your meetings and outings sizzle without heartburn!
  • Boy Scout Parents -- Is your scout not advancing? It's a proven fact that scouts with active parents are much more successful. Start by attending a training session. Parents who serve on the Committee should attend Troop Committee Training on Saturday afternoon 9/27/08.
    Parents who work directly with boys should attend Adult Leader Specific on Saturday 10/11/08.
  • Den Chief Training -- Saturday 9/27/08 10:00AM The Den Chief is a critical member of the Scouting Leadership Team. Den Chief Training is intended to build enthusiasm for the job and teach the skills the Den Chief will need to be successful. Limited class space, sign-up on-line.
  • Training -- North Trail District has an excellent hard working training staff with offerings for both Adults and Scouts.
  • Unit Commissioners -- Monthly meeting of Unit Commissioners, Thursday 10/2/2008 at 7:30pm. This month only the meeting will be held at the REI store located at 4515 LBJ Fwy, Dallas. Map.
  • District Committee -- Monthly meeting of District Committee, Tuesday 10/7/2008 at 7:15pm. FUMC, Richardson.
  • Cub Scout Roundtable -- Thursday 10/9/08 at 7:00pm. Program: "Seeds of Kindness" Bring a friend! Come for resources, stay for the fun. New Location: King of Glory Lutheran Church, 6411 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, Dallas.
  • Circle 10 Climbing Instructor Courses 2008 -- C10 is offering both rock & tower climbing instructor courses to prepare units (Troops, Crews, Ships, etc) to take advantage of these high adventure activities. The courses provides the necessary skills to conduct Scout climbing activities and makes equipment available.
  • Scouting for Adventure -- On the Outdoor Channel. Check TV listings for times. The show promotes awareness of the Boy Scouts of America and its scouting values and activities.
  • Staff Call -- for RANGER Candidates. Trek-Experienced Scouts, contact Bob Steffen r-steffen@raytheon to help staff the BAT course.
  • Aggie Eagle Program -- Friday & Saturday 9/19-20/2008. College Bound Juniors and Seniors, Check out the opportunities at A&M.
  • Scout Night, SMU Football -- Saturday, 9/20/08. Annual Boy Scout and Cub Scout Night at SMU Football game.
  • Powder Horn -- 10/10-12/08 and 10/24-26/08 at Camp Cherokee. This training is for any adult scouter looking for high adventure training.
  • Backcountry Advanced Training -- Evening and weekend camping program designed to teach vital skills for high adventure bound leaders and seasoned scouts. Begins 10/23/08.
  • Philmont Autumn Adventure -- Tentative Dates: 10/26-31/08 Open to all registered adults and fathers/sons.
  • Webelos Woods -- 11/1-2/08 at Camp Cherokee. Great opportunity to introduce your Webelos Scouts to the Boy Scout camping program.
  • Oak Leaf -- 11/1-2/08 at Camp Wisdom. Oak Leaf is a junior leader training course designed to supplement Troop level training and prepare Scouts for NYLT (Golden Acorn).

  • Twilight Camp Results -- Achievements for twilight camp are now available. Don't forget to check out the Pictures from camp.
  • Photos and Stories Needed -- Alan Edwards has been tasked with the promotion of North Trail Activities in the local media. If you would like to help, send photos and stories to, Alan Edwards at alansedwards@gmail.com. Please send only one or two good pictures and be sure to include information about the photos.

  • Welcome Home a Hero Today -- Everyday, Soldiers return from overseas at DFW airport, help show your support and welcome these men and women home.
  • Arrow of Light Ceremonies -- Schedule Order of the Arrow members for ceremony in full regalia.
  • Email Newsletter -- Don't believe the myth that the newsletter is only for cubmasters and scoutmasters. The newsletter is intended for every adult in the district including parents. Don't miss out on an event because you heard about it too late. Sign up now.
